Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Ghana

I am Ambassador Park Kyongsig, and I am pleased to welcome you to the official website of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Accra. Akwaaba! (Welcome!) I am also honored to serve as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Togo and Benin.

Ghana was the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to gain independence in 1957, and has played a leading role in the Non-Aligned Movement. The Republic of Ghana is one of Africa’s leading democracies, which has peacefully achieved constitutional changes of government through democratic elections since 1992.

Ghana is not only known as one of the World’s major cocoa producing countries but also has abundant natural resources, including gold and oil. The Government of the Republic of Ghana has actively pursued economic reforms and digitalization under the initiative Ghana Beyond Aid.

Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations with the Republic of Ghana in 1977, the Republic of Korea has strengthened the bilateral relationship in various fields such as political and economic cooperation, development and cultural exchanges. With the Korean products, including cellphones and vehicles, being introduced and well traded, the interest in our expertise in technology and experience in the economic development has also risen up significantly.

The Republic of Korea established the diplomatic relations with Togo and Benin in 1963 and 1961 respectively, and has continued to cooperate with the two countries in a variety of fields such as development cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.

The Embassy is committed to continuously strengthening bilateral relations with Ghana, Togo and Benin in all sectors. We will also keep striving to fulfil our mandate of the protection of overseas Korean nationals and consular services to ensure the safety and rights of Koreans living in and engaging with these three countries, while actively supporting the development of the Korean community abroad.
